When an invite popped into my inbox a few weeks ago to attend a blogger evening at PureSpa I was hot on it.  Having been to one before and really enjoying it, I knew it would be good.  I mustn't have read the invite properly, but I did pick up that it was to celebrate the release of their Christmas gift sets, and there was mention of surprises behind the treatment room doors, from that I thought they meant they were going to put a prize in each room and the bloggers would get to pick a door and win whatever was behind it.  I must have imagined all that as that didn't happen at all.  However, even better, PureSpa laid on a whole spa evening for us lucky bloggers.

Can you imagine my delight when Lisa, head of beauty came along with a goodie bag filled with little tickets, all containing different treatments.  We all reached in and picked out a treatment, I was delighted when I picked out a deep tissue back massage.

Before the spa activities kicked off we were treated to lots of yummy delights, sandwiches, crisps and dips, cupcakes, chocolates and bubbly.  It was such a lovely relaxed atmosphere and as there were only five of us, it gave us all a chance to speak to each other and unwind after a busy day.  It also felt great knowing that it was pouring down outside and we were inside enjoying some lovely treatments.  We weren't rushed at all and we all sat chatting and nibbling away for a good half hour.

As there were five of us we were split into two groups.  Ashly, Rachael and Amey were taken through first to get their spa treatments.  Whilst we waited we were treated to a Leighton Denny file and polish. I opted for a winter burgundy, my therapist was lovely, we chatted away for ages about absolute nonsense and it was lovely to have someone do my nails in such a relaxed environment.  I often paint my nails and think nothing of it, but having someone else do it for you, it really is relaxing.  I need to invest more time on these things.  Spoil myself!

After our nails were dry, Laura and I were taken through to have our treatments.  The salon at Union Square is so deceiving, from the outside you would never be able to tell that it spans all the way right back with a relaxing spa and several treatment rooms behind it's front.  The spa area is lush!  We were taken to the changing room where we were given robes and flip flops.  We changed and were then taken to the relaxation/chill out room.  The other girls were in there chilling out after their own treatments, they all looked very relaxed and sleepy.

It wasn't long before another therapist came to collect us and we were lead off into our very own spa suites.  As I mentioned before I picked out the Deep Tissue Massage, however before the treatment began I was given a relaxing foot scrub.  I am not sure why they do this before hand but I wasn't complaining, it was so nice and usually I don't like people touching my feet as I am super ticklish but I wasn't even phased by it.  After the foot massage I got up onto the bed which was heated and all cosy, and my massage began.  I cannot explain in words how amazing it was, I pretty much fell asleep and could have happily stayed all night.  After the treatment I felt at ease and I was ready to head off home and get tucked up in bed.

Being a bit of an insomniac I sometimes struggle to get to sleep at a decent time, but after the massage I felt so relaxed and unwound that I went home and had the best nights sleep I'd had in a long time.  It was just what I needed.

I cannot recommend PureSpa enough, and don't worry if you don't live near Aberdeen as they also have spas in Edinburgh and Glasgow.  After speaking to the therapist she told me that all therapists in all locations are trained to conduct the same treatments throughout all of their spas.  So it should be amazing at all locations.

We all need a little me time sometimes, so go on, book yourself a treatment, treat yourself you deserve it!

At the end of the evening we were treated to a wee goodie bag with some lovely REN, Elemis and Leighton Denny samples as well as a voucher for £5 off any treatment.  I can't wait to use that!  I also indulged in some Elemis goodies.  I am currently reviewing these so I'll be back with a post on those shortly!
