33 WEEK PREGNANCY UPDATE

It's update time again!  33 Weeks, seven to go, I am on count down!  It's been one long and emotional week, I think I may have cried more this week than any other week in my life, just the thought of the words hormone and emotional have me in tears!  Silly pregnancy hormones!  I have three more weeks of work left and I am so ready to exit the working world for a few months.

Symptoms
Again this week I haven't been sleeping much at all.  I think I have a belly full of baby with not much fluid as I feel every little movement baby makes and baby doesn't like it when I lie on my side.  I can't get comfy in any position and I sleep with pillows all round me.  I feel like as soon as I get on my side and get a bit of comfort baby starts kicking as if to say "hey, move over i'm not comfy here".  The weather has also been quite warm this past week, although sometimes wet it's felt humid and I've been experiencing quite a bit of sausage/porkie hand and feet syndrome (swollen hands & feet).  I've resorted to wearing flip flops most of the time!

For the past few weeks I have also began feeling some muscular type pains between my legs and moving from side to side in bed is really painful.  I spoke to the midwife about this and she said it could be that some of my muscles have split which can cause pain when moving as my tummy is trying to keep it all together or it could also be SPD (Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction).  I am going to see my midwife again this week and she may give me a support belt to lift bump up a little bit!

What is symphysis pubis dysfunction?

The symphysis pubis is a stiff joint that connects the two halves of your pelvis. This joint is strengthened by a dense network of tough, flexible tissues (ligaments). Your body produces a hormone called relaxin, which softens your ligaments in order to help your baby pass through your pelvis.  Your pelvic joints move more during and just after pregnancy. This can cause inflammation and pain, and may lead to the condition.

Emotions
This past week has definitely been my most emotional week.  I think I've cried at least once or twice every day.  I think a lot of the emotion is down to lack of sleep and feeling completely drained.  I am still working 5 days a week at the moment too so by the time I get home at night I feel like I've done a marathon.  I'm usually one for a stone heart so when I start crying over spilt milk (literally) I get annoyed, I feel slightly out of control, however I know it's completely normal.  I had to take a few days off work at the end of the week as I was so exhausted from the lack of sleep and I was teary.  One of the days I practically slept on and off the whole day and we all know a good cry just makes you feel even more sleepy!

Cravings
I'm still craving ice lollies, but I've moved on to Tesco's own brand of lollies called helter skelters, they are the bomb!  Also this week my latest fancy has been iced water and sliced lemon.  I make up a huge jug and then drink the whole lot, it's so refreshing and doesn't seem to cause too much heartburn - yay!  I've also had a thing for coca cola, which isn't good as I drank 4 cans in one day and that takes me way over the caffeine allowance.

Weight Gain
I haven't weighed myself this week but I am sure I will have gained as bump is expanding by the day!

Gender
Still team yellow - only 7 weeks to go and we'll know!

Maternity Clothes
I haven't bought anything this week that's maternity, but I did buy a black knee length casual dress from Tesco and some plain black flip flops.  They should see me through the next few weeks in the hotter days!

New Things this Week

I started antenal classes this week, I had two, one on Monday and one on Friday.  Monday's class was a bit of general one, covering everything from hormonal changes, general pregnancy and they also gave us an opportunity to ask any questions we wanted about anything.  It wasn't that great as a lot of what they told us I had already read about in the baby book we were given or it was things I already knew from being around children/babies a lot.  The class on Friday was all about feeding, mainly about breast feeding but it did cover a little about bottle also.  I found this class very helpful and informative. The midwife who took that class was absolutely lovely and she really made me look at the options in a new light!  Labouring classes are next week and I'll have hubby in tow, I am looking forward to those!
