When someone mentions the word "run" to me I have to laugh.  I hate running, well I'm not sure if I hate running or if it's because I am so unfit and find running a real chore but this year I wanted to push myself physically and really step up my fitness.  I need to lose some serious baby weight but most of all I'd like to be able to say I've participated in at least one organised race in my life.  My husband ran two 10K's last year and I was so proud of him, to me that's such a great achievement.

I decided to take the bull by the horns and sign myself up for the Color Me Rad race in June.  It looks like a whole load of fun, plus it's only 5K which seems like the perfecting starting point.

I went for my first run yesterday and boy was it tough, I'm not gonna lie I managed half a mile, it's not the best start but I have to start somewhere.  After I completed the run I was really annoyed at myself for not being able to do a bit more but then I had to stop and think.  I haven't exercised in well over a year, I've never run before and I am a complete beginner.  So with all that in mind I won't beat myself up, I'll pat myself on the back and say i've made a start.  My next run will be Friday and I will push myself to run that extra kilometre, and every day after that I will aim for one more until I am hitting my goals.  I can do this!

Never a truer word spoken!

Much Love, Kirsty

  1. I'm doing this one in Edinburgh for fun :) Trust me, you see quick results running, and it's only a little 5k!

  2. I hate running - I find it soul destroying! - but this looked far too much fun not to! Hopefully see you there! :)
