This year I am feeling super organised, my Christmas shopping is almost done and all I need to do is organise the food, wrap some gifts and send out my Christmas cards.  With all of the stressful/time consuming stuff out the way we have lots of spare time to really enjoy the season and embrace the many festive events that are going on around our city!  I've selected a few things for us to do over the coming weeks, although Oscar still doesn't have a clue what's happening, having him around and sharing it all with him makes it all the more special and exciting.

Here's what we have planned, if you're local to the area you might find some of these events interesting:

1.  Visiting Reindeer - Kirkton Garden Center, Stonehaven
This coming weekend (14th & 15th Nov) the garden centre are hosting a reindeer weekend, several reindeer who usually reside in the Cairngorms will be taking a weekend vay-cay to Stonehaven.  According to the event page there will be lots for fun activities for the children to do aside from visiting the reindeer and of course there's coffee and cake.

2. A visit to Santa & his Grotto - Dobbies Garden Centre
This will be Oscar's 2nd visit to Santa at Dobbies, I suspect that this will just continue to be a tradition until he decides its not 'cool' anymore.  We visited last year and as he was only a few months old he wasn't really phased, it'll be interesting to see how he is this year.  I have booked our slot for later in December, I think it's more exciting to go the closer it gets!

3. Festive Light switch on & a Santa parade - Union Street
Our local cities festive light switch on is combined with a Santa parade, this will take place later in November and it kinda marks the start of the festivities!  We'll wrap up in our cosiest clothes and enjoy a long running city tradition... followed by festive coffees from Starbucks!

4. Ice Skating at the Christmas Village - Aberdeen
This year our city are opening a Christmas Village, there will be festive markets, carol singing and an Ice Rink.  Two years ago the hubs and I visited London at the start of December and we went skating at the National History Museum, it was so nice, we followed it with hot chocolates and a lovely dinner, Oscar can't come skating but it'll be nice for the hubs and I to have date night and do it again.

5. Holly Fest - Drum Castle, Aberdeenshire
Drum Castle are hosting a number of festive days where they will have a christmas market, a christmas advent hunt and carol singers in the chapel.  Drum Castle is beautiful, it's a place that we all love, so this was a must do on our festive calendar of events!

What will you be doing in the lead up to Christmas?
