I've joined slimming world to lose some weight and feel good about myself again.  I don't want to be on a diet as such and this seems like the perfect plan!

Back in July my friend convinced me to join Slimming World, she had been on it for a few weeks and had received some wonderful results, If you know me or read the blog you will know that I have tried every diet going so I can't lie, I am fearful that this may just be another flash in the pan.  I've had the books now since July, I went along to two classes and then headed off on holiday, alas I never went back to the classes.  After several weeks of procrastination I've decided to re read the books (properly) and give it a go. 

The principals of the plan are pretty simple.  You have free food (lots of it), healthy extras and then syns (treats etc).  There is absolutely no way I should feel hungry with the amount of food I can eat under the free foods section, these are classed as limitless.  Healthy extras include dairy and carbs and you should be eating these each day along with all of the free foods and syns.  After re reading the book yesterday I must say it really is a simple plan to follow and I shouldn't feel like I am on a diet.

Ultimately I want to lose weight, mainly because I just want to feel better in myself, I'd also like to be able to wear different styles of clothes without feeling self conscious about my flabby bits.  I don't want to give up on cheese, crisps, wine or chocolate because I'm not a quitter, ha! Joking aside I don't want my life controlled by a constant 'diet'.  However, what I do want is some understanding of food, the ability to control my mindless eating and to regain some control.  I am hoping that I can do this on Slimming World.  Everyone I know who has signed up has said nothing but good things.  Here's to me trying something new ... again, and here's to hopefully losing a few pounds.

  1. I think Slimming World is a great diet. It seems to really work and like you said you can eat as many free foods as you like. I have been on it for 3 months and to be honest I lost interest last couple of weeks. I have lost 13lbs though which proves it does work. I have cancelled the online membership and I will be joining a local group in October. Good luck Kirsty you can do this. :-) xx
